CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The BXAI Summer Program is an important aspect of the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP) as it offers Bai Xian Scholars a unique opportunity to explore, learn, and build community. All Bai Xian Scholars must commit to attending the BXAI Summer Program in the first summer after enrollment of the AFLSP, and are required to sign a commitment letter upon acceptance of the AFLSP Scholarship that confirms his/her participation at the Summer Program. Failure to attend will result in disqualification from the AFLSP and repayment (by the student to BXAI) of any scholarship funds he/she has already received.

To remain eligible for the AFLSP Scholarship or AFLSP Exchange Scholarship, Scholars must:

  • Remain enrolled at the relevant Partner University as a full-time student for the duration of their studies under the AFLSP.
  • Remain in the city of the relevant Partner University for the majority of the academic year.  If a Scholar leaves the city for over one semester (with the exception of attending a pre-approved exchange program), BXAI may withhold scholarship disbursement or terminate the scholarship.
  • Notify BXAI if they decide to pursue exchange or overseas short-term studies during the scholarship period. BXAI reserves the right to withhold scholarship disbursement during the period of exchange or overseas study if a Scholar attends a program outside of Asia and/or pursues non-Asia-related studies. In such an event, BXAI will consider making adjustments to his/her scholarship disbursement schedule (if needed) on a case-by-case basis.
  • Notify BXAI if they decide to take on a full-time internship during the scholarship period that requires them to take a semester off. BXAI reserves the right to withhold scholarship disbursement during the internship period. In such an event, BXAI will consider making adjustments to the scholarship disbursement schedule (if needed) on a case-by-case basis.
  • Disclose to BXAI in a timely manner if they are a recipient of any other scholarship or form of funding offered by the relevant Partner University or a third party. In such an event, BXAI reserves the right to review the terms of the scholarship offer on a case-by-case basis.

Scholars must also satisfy all of the following requirements upon acceptance of the AFLSP Scholarship:

  • Participate in the BXAI Summer Program (spanning up to three weeks) in the first summer after their enrollment in the Scholarship Program.  Costs related to travel, accommodation, and other necessary expenses are covered by BXAI.
  • Participate in all mandatory programs at the relevant Partner University as stipulated by the AFLSP Scholarship or AFLSP Exchange Scholarship.
  • Fulfill all requirements of their degree program within the standard timeframe as set by the relevant Partner University;
  • Meet any other specific conditions set by the relevant Partner University; and
  • Complete a report provided by BXAI.

In general, Bai Xian Scholars are permitted to receive other forms of funding support in conjunction with an AFLSP Scholarship, though in such an event, BXAI reserves the right to review the terms of the scholarship on a case-by-case basis.  Bai Xian Scholars have the duty to disclose to BXAI if he/she is the recipient of any other scholarship(s), tuition waivers, and/or funding support offered by a third party.

In general, Bai Xian Exchange Scholars are permitted to receive other forms of funding support in conjunction with an AFLSP Exchange Scholarship, though in such an event, BXAI reserves the right to review the terms of the exchange scholarship on a case-by-case basis.  Bai Xian Exchange Scholars have the duty to disclose to BXAI if he/she is the recipient of any other scholarship(s), tuition waivers, and/or funding support offered by a third party.
