Peking University is an Anchor University under BXAI’s Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP). Each year, 5 AFLSP scholarship places are offered for the Yenching Academy of Peking University, and 5 additional scholarships are offered to full-time Japanese students enrolled in Peking University.
About Peking University and the Yenching Academy of Peking University:
Founded in 1898, Peking University was the first national comprehensive institution of higher learning ever founded in China and has been regarded as a symbol of modern Chinese education. The university has 20 schools and departments that encompass diverse branches of learning from basic and applied sciences, social sciences, and the humanities, to medicine, management, and education. The school boasts a student body of 43,327, which includes 3,613 international students.
The AFLSP has partnered with the Yenching Academy (YCA) of Peking University since its establishment in 2014. The YCA is a fully funded residential program offering an interdisciplinary master’s program in China studies covering politics, economics, law, society, philosophy, history, and the arts. Working closely with their academic mentors, Yenching Scholars are granted the flexibility to create their own study paths by choosing from six academic concentrations and a variety of extracurricular activities.
- Each year, 5 scholarship places are offered for Yenching Academy and 5 are offered for Japanese full-time students enrolled in the university. Scholars are supported for one year.
- Each YCA Scholar is required to conduct a field research project guided by mentors.
- Japanese full-time students participating in the AFLSP are guaranteed housing at the university’s Asian Youth Center.
