About the University of Hong Kong:

The University of Hong Kong (HKU), founded in 1911, is the oldest institute of higher learning in Hong Kong, and is an internationally recognized, research-led, comprehensive university today.  With a strong international focus undergirded by a distinct Asian perspective, HKU strives to stay at the forefront of education through innovation and an interdisciplinary approach.  The university’s undergraduate curriculum was revamped in 2012 and embraces a “total learning experience” through innovative forms of learning and upgraded infrastructure.  The curriculum also provides flexibility for students to design their own combination of disciplinary majors, minors, and electives within and outside their home faculties.  Notable alumni of HKU include current Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Carrie Lam; former Chief Secretary of Hong Kong, Anson Chan; and Hong Kong and Macanese business magnate, Stanley Ho.  The university is home to over 28,000 students, of which over 9,500 are international.
